| Another one of the largest genera in the orchid family with more than 600 species. These species are found throughout the tropical regions of the Americas. They grow at sea level to 13,300 feet. Most of these plants are epiphytes but a few are terrestrial. Most of the species are grown under the same conditions as Cattleya, Epidendrum, and Encyclia. Most thrive in pots with well-drained bark mix. Some of the more vigorous species can be well grown in wire or slatted baskets. The pedulous species can be grown on tree-fern slabs or cork mounts.
