Paphiopedilum orchids, otherwise known as "Slipper Orchids" or "Lady Slippers," comprises  around 60 species and can be found in India, China, Southeast Asia,the Philippines, New Guinea, and Guadalcanal.

These species grow at moderate altitudes under moderate shade.  The lip of this flower is shaped like a pouch. Most Paphiopedilum orchids grow with intermediate conditions.  The plants should be kept evenly moist throughout the year.
